“Save Time, Extend Your Reach.”
Social Media is a great tool to drive traffic to your website, build awareness, & boost engagement with your community……..If it’s done correctly.
Social media can also be a major time-suck… it’s very easy to allow your notifications to distract you through-out the day.
I prefer the “batch” process, instead.
Set it and Forget It! (well…almost )
Part of my work includes managing clients’ accounts and our own in-house accounts…
And through a lot of trial-and-error, I’ve discovered some tools, process-flows and tricks to creating awesome custom content as quickly and efficiently as possible.
You can replicate this workflow for your own accounts (whether you do it yourself or hand off to one of your team-members), or you can take it and offer it as a service to your clients!
Below, you’ll get the high-level steps of setting up your workflow …
Then at the end of the post you can get your detailed walkthrough of how to actually implement it.
Here’s how you can publish months-worth of social media content, without sacrificing your schedule (or quality).
1. Establish Your Target Audience
Before you do anything, you need to know who your target persona is.
[Ex] Social Media Marketer, Female Age 25-50, Masters Degree, Income 45,000/yr, Family-Oriented and wants to get more clients or advance her marketing career.
The more deeply you understand your target audience, the easier it will be for you to create a connection and keep them engaged.
Note: Researching and creating personas is really a whole topic in-itself, so we’ll have a follow-up post on this coming soon.
After you have confirmed the “who”, ask “who with”, when, what, and how.
Who are they interacting with / following?
When are they online?
What social platforms are the using?
How do they engage (sharing content, images, etc)
2. Automate/Schedule Posts
I propose Hootsuite for this. You can manage multiple social accounts with one dashboard. Instead of struggling to publish content day by day, you can schedule content to be uploaded at a specific time/day, and Hootsuite will publish across assigned profiles for you.
There is even the option to upload bulk posts by uploading a special spreadsheet. (I lay out how to do this, in the guide, at the end of this article)
3. Curate Content
Sharing high quality content is a must have for social success, although, the process of curating content can be overwhelming. Here are a couple tools that can save you a great deal of time and stress:
BuzzSumo: Not only is it great for content curation, but can also acquaint you with top influencers in your industry. BuzzSumo makes it easy to know what is being shared across all the major social sites.
Hootsuite: Is great for finding good content, with the ability to share it across all of your networks, in one click. Their content suggestion feature analyzes your posting history and recommends content that is relevant. It will even suggest a “prime” time slot to get the best reach from your audience.
4. Set up RSS Feeds
Use your own content! In Hootsuite, you can set up an RSS feed to automatically publish any new post from your own blog. It will push the blog post across all social media accounts indicated, at once.
Hootsuite also has the ability to add as many RSS feeds as you like, which means great content being shared, automatically.
If you have a few favorite blogs that you always share content from, this step can save you a ton of time!
5. Create Quick & Easy Images w/ Canva
Visual content is more likely to be shared via social media, and is a great way to ramp up engagement.
You don’t need to be a world-class Photoshop expert to create custom images with attractive typography…
Canva makes it easy and affordable to create images that are optimized for social media.
It offers drag and drop text, professionally designed templates, and the ability to create batch images. (Again, I go into more detail on how to do this, in the guide, at the end of this article)
6. Install Hootlet (Browser Extension) to share content
Hootlet is the free browser extension of Hootsuite. It enables you to easily share content from anywhere on the web.
With Hootlet you can share webpages, images, and quotes with one click. It even has the ability to auto-schedule your message (selecting the prime time to send).
